Whether you believe in destiny, divine dictation, or just pure luck, obtaining and maintaining a blissful life may seem like a total crapshoot. However, science has increasingly demonstrated more and more in recent years that happiness can actually be controlled—by you, even.
This isn’t the material of your typical self-help manual—this is pure scientific data revealing everything from the recuperative properties of a quick nap to why buying a shiny new pair of shoes makes you feel better (momentarily, that is).
Faculty members, alumni, and graduate students of the University of California, Riverside have been leading the charge on the research, the understanding, and the cultivation and fostering of happiness. The findings are so astounding, so beneficial, that governments, communities at large, and places of employment are listening carefully. Happiness isn’t a mere emotion. Studies have found that happy people enjoy many other advantages: good health, good social relationships, even good salaries.
